CTE Scholarships

This scholarship is awarded to a student who completed a CTE business program. The student must meet the following requirements: 

• Successfully completed a business class
• Received a certificate in a business class
• Furthering education or post-secondary plans within the business field
• Possess a 3.0 GPA in CTE courses
• Write a short essay including information about the student's career choice, future plans, and how CTE business courses has prepared the student for their future

This $1,000 scholarship given from the Hospice of the EUP is awarded to a student who meets the following requirements: 

• Graduating senior enrolled in a pre-nursing or healthcare program at Lake Superior State University
• Successfully completed the Health Sciences program at Sault Area Career Center
• Possess a minimum GPA of 3.0
• Submit an essay indicating the student's commitment to the Hospice philosophy in their practice and the area in which they would like to focus
• Commit to 40 hours of volunteer service with Hospice of the EUP

This $1,800 scholarship is preferentially given to a student who has taken business classes and has been involved in BPA. The scholarship is in memory of Kelsey D. Raffaele. The requirements for this scholarship include: 

• Completing a short questionnaire
• Planning to attend LSSU
• Possess a GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Write a 300-word essay on distracted driving.

This $1,000 scholarship is sponsored by State Farm insurance and is awarded to a Sault Area High School and Career Center senior interested in pursuing a degree in welding technology or welding engineering at Ferris State University. This scholarship is awarded to a student who meets the following requirements: 

• Accepted into Ferris State University for a welding program 
• Write a 500-word (or less) essay explaining why the student is pursuing a degree in welding and how the student plans to use the welding education

The Order of the Eastern Star Scholarship is awarded to two students in the amount of $500. The scholarship funds come from proceeds from the annual Christmas formal. In order to be awarded this scholarship, students must meet the following requirements:

• Completion of a CTE certificate
• Pursuing any CTE degree (1, 2, or 4 year)
• 2.9 GPA or higher
• Involvement in service activities
• Special consideration given to a relative of an Order of the Eastern Star member
• Teacher recommendation uploaded

The Soo Co-op Credit Union Dan Hewitt Memorial Scholarship is geared toward a Sault Area Career Center senior who is planning to attend Lake Superior State University. To be considered for this scholarship, a student must have completed a CTE business course successfully. This is a one-time, non-renewable scholarship. 

Mr. Hewitt served as the CEO/President of the Soo Co-op Credit Union until his retirement in November 2006. He was committed to volunteering and serving his community. He was always supportive, approached all people with kindness, and had a great sense of humor.

To be considered for this scholarship, students must complete the CTE senior application and submit it to the Sault Area Career Center Office on or before the scholarship deadline. Students must also submit a one-page essay answering the following questions.

 #1: Will you successfully complete a CTE business class? What business classes have you taken throughout your high school career? How will you utilize the skills gained in these classes in your future?

#2: How do you (or will you continue) to provide encouragement to others and dedicate your time to the community in support of the greater good?

#3:  What do you hope to accomplish in your future after graduation?

This scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship available to students seeking vocational, technical, or trade education and training.

This $250, non-renewable scholarship is available to a female CTE student who shows grit, resilience, and tenacity.

This $500 scholarship is available to a CTE student who plans to attend a trade school. Preference will be given to a non-traditional CTE student.

This $1,000 scholarship is for a Sault Area Career Center senior interested in pursuing further education or training in an automotive related technical/college program. The student must provide proof of acceptance into an approved CTE program. A copy of a letter of acceptance would be appropriate and funds can be used toward tuition. 

The recipient should be a high school senior that has met or exceeded the minimum requirements for acceptance into an automotive program (preferred) or other CTE program to further their education at a post-secondary institution. The student must be a completer of an approved CTE program.

This $2,500, non-renewable scholarship is for a student planning to attend LSSU in the pre-nursing or any health care field. The student must be an EUP high school graduate who has successfully completed the Health Sciences program at Sault Area Career Center with a 3.0 GPA or higher.
