SAPS is commited to offering music education with General Music, Concert Band and Choir from Kindergarten through Graduation.
Miss Sara Perfetti, Band Director
MIss Perfetti is a born Yooper and is starting her 3rd year at SAPS. Hailing from the west side of the Upper Peninsula, she graduated from Chassell High School in 1992 and attended Northern Michigan University where she graduated with a Bachelor's of Music Education Degree in 1998. After graduation, Miss Perfetti taught 5th -12th Grade Band and 7th-12th Grade Choir for 16 years at the Lake Linden-Hubbell School District in Lake Linden, MI. While at LLHS, she was the drama teacher for the after-school Drama Club and the Advisor for the HS Student Council, Cheerleaders, and National Honor Society. Miss Perfetti also became involved in a local community theater group,The Calumet Players, and found a passion for working in the theater. She performed onstage in various productions and later worked as vocal music director and stage director for several shows.
In 2017, she took a break from teaching and worked as the Office Manager at Lake Superior Christian Church in Marquette, MI. After 3 years as Office Manager, she decided to go back to her first love, teaching, and taught 6th-12th Grade Band, Elementary Music, 7th-12th Grade Choir, and HS Drama at Tahquameon Area Schools for 5 years.
Since moving to Sault Ste Marie, Miss Perfetti has been busy volunteering and working at the Historic Soo Theatre, singing and playing the piano and organ at various churches. When she has free time, Miss Perfetti enjoys reading, kayaking, spending time with her cats, Shadow, Bob, and Charliee, and singing the Star Spangled Banner while keeping score and book at various sporting events.
