AP US Government & Politics
Welcome to AP US Government & Politics! What an exciting year to be in this class!
AP Gov is a college-level survey course, analogous to an Intro to PoliSci course. We will cover topics such as the foundation of the US Government, the 3 branches of government, civil liberties & civil rights, political ideologies, and more. Students will have the opportunity to earn college credit for this class by taking and passing the AP exam in May. As such, the class is more rigorous than civics class. It will still be a lot of fun, but be prepared to put in some work!
The expectation for students taking this course is that they will try to earn college credit. The most straightforward way to do so is by signing up for the AP exam in May. We will be preparing for the test all year and do dedicated review in April. Students will also be able to attend addition review sessions and participate in a mock exam. If students do not plan to take the AP exam, they may also take the CLEP exam. This is an alternative way for students to earn college credit. Students are able to take the CLEP for free by earning a voucher through the Modern States program. More information about this program will be available later in the year
